Class Breakdown

Block 1: Defensive Foundations, Blocking, and Striking

Students will learn the foundational skills needed to protect themselves during a close-range confrontation. This block focuses on stance, movement, balance, reactionary distance, defensive blocking, and proper striking mechanics.

The goal is to help you understand how to defend effectively, move with purpose, protect vital areas, and create the opportunity to escape or regain control of the situation.

Block 2: Basic Joint Locking Drills

This block introduces you to basic joint control concepts using proper leverage, balance disruption, and body mechanics. Students will practice controlled drills involving wrist, elbow, and shoulder control while learning how joint locks can be used to redirect, stabilize, or control an aggressive subject.

Safety, communication, and controlled application are emphasized throughout this portion of training.

Block 3: Basic Pressure Point Control Techniques

Students will be introduced to pressure point control concepts and how they can be used to assist with movement, compliance, grip releases, and defensive control.

This section teaches students how pressure point techniques support other defensive tactics, including joint locks, redirection, and disengagement. Students will also learn the limitations of pain compliance and why pressure points should be used as part of a larger defensive strategy.

Block 4: Scenario Application, Control, and Use-of-Force Decision Making

The final block brings the training together through controlled partner drills and practical scenario-based applications. Students will apply the skills learned throughout the day while working through common close-range situations such as grabs, pushes, aggressive approaches, and attempts to control personal space.

This block reinforces decision-making, verbal commands, escape options, appropriate control, and responsible defensive response.
