UNARMED

Guard Card – Phase I (8 hours) $120

The first 4 hours of class training will be the Powers to Arrest. Subject matter will include the role and responsibilities of the security officer, relationship with the local police, inspections, legal liabilities, arrestable offenses, private persons arrest, making an arrest, searching the suspect, merchant privilege search, terrorism, ethics and professional conduct of the security officer. The second 4 hours of class training will be Weapons of Mass Destruction and Terrorism Awareness. Subjects will include the role of the security officer in preventing an incident, the nature of terrorism, weapons of mass destruction and coordination of critical information.Upon completion of the above training you will receive a certificate of completion. A temporary guard card will be available online at the BSIS website before your permanent card is received in the mail.

  • Phase II Mandatory Training (8-Hours within 30 days of online issue date and additional 8 within 180 days)
  • Phase III Elective Training (8-Hours within 30 days of online issue date and additional 8 within 180 days)

Public Relations – Phase II (4 Hours) $60

This course teaches students the introduction to security, public relations, ethics, professionalism, interpersonal communications, crisis management, sexual harassment, cultural diversity and substance abuse. This course focuses on the understanding of customer relations, performance, demeanor, appearance, attitude, crisis situations, physical and mental changes of substance abuse, definition of substance abuse, liabilities and laws of sexual harassment and discrimination.

Observation & Documentation – Phase II (4 Hours) $60

This course teaches students report writing & documentation, English as a second language, observation, patrol procedures, asking appropriate questions and observing suspects. This course focuses on the understanding of the requirements for writing an effective report, principles in the elements of field notes, roles of observation and description, patrol function and questioning techniques.

Communications and Its Significance – Phase II (4 Hours) $60

This course teaches students the importance of internal communication, external communication and communication systems in an emergency situation. The class will focus on the understanding in the use of radios, telephones, public address systems, intercoms, and pagers, elements of effective communication, role of the security officer, types of incidents to report, importance of timely notification, and knowing who to contact and when.

Liability & Legal Aspects – Phase II (4 Hours) $60

This course teaches students the three branches of California’s legal system, criminal law and civil law, common crimes, vicarious liability, workplace violence, damages, Private Security Services Act and role of the security officer. This course focuses on criminal law elements for arrest, powers of arrest by a security officer, civil liabilities for security officers, vicarious liability, terrorist acts, anatomy of civil and criminal litigation, Business and Professional Code (Private Security Services Act), administrative law and role of the security officer.

Baton – (8 Hours) $235

This course teaches students the guard and employer responsibilities, criminal liability, civil liability, and vicarious liability. Use of force will cover the continuum of force, reasonable rational force, force against words, trespassing and assault with hands and fists. Further discussion on deadly force, force in defense of another and property. Also, escalation and de-escalation of force. Practical application to include stance, grip, target areas, defensive techniques, control techniques, movement and arrest and control techniques.

Chemical Agent – (3 Hours) $60

This course covers chemical agent types, effectiveness and methods of delivery. Legal issues will cover California tear gas laws, business and professional code, education code, welfare and institutions code, legal status of non-legal chemical agents, moral aspects of using tear gas, chemical agent policy considerations, pepper spray use in California and animal repellent. Also covered will be medical consideration to include first aid, neutralization, and decontamination. Officer exposure to chemical agent is optional. Practical application consists of a spraying a non-active chemical agent.

CPR & AED – (4 Hours) $60

This course consists of four hours of training with lecture, discussion, video demonstration, practical application, and written exam in accordance with the American Heart Association. It teaches the student adult and child CPR using an AED. Also teaches infant CPR. Students will learn how to give compressions and breaths, open the airway, use a mask, and check for a response. Practical application will be demonstrated on American Heart Association approved mannequins and an AED trainer unit.

First Aid – (4 Hours) $60

This course consists of four hours of training with lecture, discussion, video demonstration, practical application, and written exam in accordance with the America Heart Association. It will teach the student what first aid is, the duty to give first aid, victims with a breathing problem, how to relieve choking, bad allergic reactions, use of an epinephrine pen, bleeding that can be seen and not seen, how to stop bleeding and first aid for bites and stings. Further emphasis will be on injury emergencies such as head, neck, spine, broken bones and sprains, burns and electrocution. Environmental emergencies will include temperature related and poison emergencies.

Electrical Defense Weapon – (8 Hours) $235

This course is designed to provide the theory and practical training necessary to reasonably, safely, effectively, operate the Electrical Defense Weapon, X26, Conducted Electrical Weapon (CEW). Course will cover research, technology, nervous systems, medical and safety, Electrical Defense Weapon exposure, deployment and handling, legal, nomenclature, Electrical Defense Weapon operation and displays, programming, spark test, data downloading, maintenance, X26 Conducted Electrical Weapon (CEW) cartridge, loading and unloading, tactical considerations, probe placement, target zones, Electrical Defense Weapon) camera, drive stun, effects on animals, policy considerations, holsters, and use of force. Practical application will include non-firing drills, firing drills, stress course and scenarios. Electrical Defense Weapon course is taught by Electrical Defense Weapon certified instructor. Course follows the guidelines of California P.O.S.T.

Handcuffing – (4 Hours) $60

This course teaches the student the basic techniques to safely handcuff and control a suspect. You will learn the proper handcuffing techniques to reduce liability and enhance security officer safety.The course focuses on the defensive mindset, types of handcuffing subjects, handcuff selection, handcuff maintenance, immobilization, tactical considerations, civil liability, mechanics of handcuffing, handcuff procedures for standing and kneeling, handcuffing on the weak-side, searching, wrist lock takedowns, and use of force considerations.

Defensive Tactics – (4 Hours) $60

This course teaches the student the knowledge and proper techniques to safely defend, restrain, and control a hostile assailant. The class will cover mindset, balance, body mechanics, leverage, strength against weakness, use of opponents strength and momentum, personal weapons, pressure point control, stance, control and restraint, and breakaway techniques.

Tactical Verbal Communications $60

This course teaches students to tactically respond using verbal techniques to manage aggressive behavior. This course focuses on the understanding the Goal of Security Enforcement, Force Options, Generating Voluntary Compliance, Habit of Mind and Mind Set, How to Handle Verbal Abuse, Studied Response while using Deflection & Redirection, Use of Deflection Techniques and Strip Verbal Phrases, Essence of Professional Communication.

Report Writing Aspects $60

This course teaches students report writing with the use of Nouns, Pronouns, Verbs and Agreements, Punctuation, Capitalization, Abbreviations and Spelling, Active Voice, Chronological Order and Word Choice, Parallelism, Paragraphing, Jargon, and Slang – Facts/Interfaces/Opinions and the process of Security and Police Report Writing. This course focuses on the understanding of the requirements for writing effective reports and principles in the elements of field notes.

Civilian Electrical Defense Course – (3 Hours) $60

This course is designed to provide the theory and practical training necessary to reasonably, safely, effectively, operate the Electrical Defense Weapon. Course will cover research, technology, nervous systems, medical and safety, Electrical Defense Weapon exposure, Electrical Defense Weapon, Electrical Defense Weapon deployment and handling, legal, nomenclature, Electrical Defense Weapon operation and displays, programming, spark test, data downloading, maintenance, Electrical Defense Weapon cartridge, loading and unloading, tactical considerations, probe placement, target zones, drive stun, effects on animals, policy considerations, holsters, and use of force. Practical application will include non-firing drills, firing drills, stress course and scenarios. Electrical Defense Weapon course is taught by Electrical Defense Weapon certified instructor. Course follows the guidelines of California Penal Code .$60.00

Executive Protection Intro Course – (24-30 Hours) $600

This training program offers three (3) intensive days of more than 24-30 hours of instruction.

 

Day 1

Introduction with discussion on the career field and business operations in personal protection, Equipment discussion with emphasis on obtaining contemporary knowledge about dress, protocol, placement, personal appearance, manners, conduct, dining, etiquette and relationships with others. Also the necessary licenses, weapons, tools and gear needed. Security on how to conduct house, office, vehicle and building searches. Searches while employing state of the art techniques. Obtaining protection information to prepare for an overnight estate or hotel protection mission. Individual protective measures. Learn emergency medical assistance techniques for attacks or accidents and proper injured party movement methods. Receive information on personal health, nutrition, fitness and wellness. Learn what to include and How to prepare and present a professional personal resume.

 

Day 2

Communications information on new protection technology with wireless alarm systems, and physical security concerns. Take part in discussing, designing and planning risk management and threat assessment models and procedures for principal protection.

Driving work on advance surveys and escort missions protecting principals in crowds and during actual vehicle movements throughout the area. Participate in presentations on clandestine explosive devices and learn to locate and identify them on vehicles and in buildings. Acquire the principles of orienteering, map reading and movements in emergency situations. Body Positioning to include being challenged in the development of preventive strategies, countermeasures and operational guidelines.

Hand To Hand Techniques while engaging in unarmed Protection Response Tactics (PRT) for close-in protection problems, embarrassments and attacks. Weapons Control with understanding legal issues with respect to carrying and use of weapons, deadly force and defensive measures in California. Train and become familiar with ballistics, chemical agents, protective vests and useful equipment.

 

Day 3

Escorting Drills: Be aware of specialized protective methods for children, family members, visitors, and household staff and in offices, on estates and during recreational activities. Be taught how to handle paparazzi, media and friendly or aggressive approaches from fans, employing original defensive, offensive, motorcade and escort driving techniques. Securing Techniques with emphasis on gaining the knowledge of surveillance and practice counter surveillance techniques. Vehicle Arrival/Departure Drills. Practice movements, signals, positioning, arrivals and departures in scenarios with principals, featuring one-on-one, two-on-one and team protective scenarios with a Mall Live Practice Exercise.

Students will perform a protective assignment with a principal in a real world environment.

ARMED TRAINING COURSES

ARMED

Firearms – 2 Day Course (16 Hours) $240 - $280

This 2 day course will include lecture and weapons handling.Topics covered will be the laws regarding possession and carrying firearms, laws and standards regarding the use of deadly force, avoidance of deadly force, the de-escalation of force and civil and criminal liability, firearm nomenclature and maintenance, four basic firearms safety rules, range safety, home firearms safety, the elements of pistol marksmanship. Practical application will consist of weapons handling and weapons qualification.

Firearm Requalification $60 - $85

Exposed and concealed firearm requalification. Fifty round qualification per firearm. Exposed Firearm requires 2 requals per year. 4th requal for exposed firearm permit is required at least 60 days prior to expiration of permit.

Concealed Weapon requal is required at the renewal of CCW permit.

CCW Firearm – (4 & 8 Hours) $180 - $235

This course will include lecture, weapons handling and firearm qualification. Topics covered will be the laws regarding possession of the concealed carrying of the firearm. Emphasis on the laws and standards regarding the use of deadly force, avoidance of deadly force, the de-escalation of force and civil and criminal liability, firearm maintenance, four basic firearms safety rules, range safety, home firearms safety, the elements of pistol marksmanship. Practical application will consist of weapons handling, weapons presentation, holstering, and weapons qualification.

The 8 hour course is for those needing their 1st CCW permit.

The 4 hour course is for those renewing their CCW permit.

2-Hour Review Deadly Force – (2 Hours) $60

This 2-hour course will include lecture and weapons handling. Topics covered will be the laws regarding possession and carrying firearms, laws and standards regarding the use of deadly force, avoidance of deadly force, the de-escalation of force and civil and criminal liability, firearm nomenclature and maintenance, four basic firearms safety rules, range safety, home firearms safety, the elements of pistol marksmanship. Practical application will consist of practical scenario training after weapons handling and weapons qualification.
